Fry an egg in the center of a bread slice until the white is set and the toast is browned.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Serving size: 1 serving
Ingredients
- 1 slice whole-wheat or multigrain bread
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 large egg
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
- Use the open mouth of a drinking glass to cut a hole out of the center of the bread. Set aside.
- Crack the egg into a small bowl gently, so as not to break the yolk.
- Put a small nonstick pan on the stove over medium heat. When hot, add the oil, then carefully lay the bread frame in the pan.
- Gently pour the egg into the hole and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Cook until the bread has browned underneath and the egg has started to set, about 2 minutes, then carefully flip. Cook the other side until the yolk is as firm as you like, about 30 seconds to 1 minute longer.
- Eat right away.
